Camping Trip to Bhimtal – A Spiritual and Scenic Getaway

Day 1: Journey Begins from Delhi

Six friends decided to escape the city chaos and head to the peaceful hills of Bhimtal for a camping experience paired with a spiritual visit to the famous Neem Karoli Baba Ashram.

The journey started at 5:00 AM from Delhi, led by their cheerful and experienced driver, Naveen, who is well-versed with the winding roads of Uttarakhand. Naveen has traveled to the hills countless times, and his confidence made the group feel safe and excited.

After about 2 hours of driving, they stopped for a tea break at Ramveer Chaiwala, a hidden gem just off the highway. The group ordered steaming hot adrak chai and bun maska, enjoying the crisp morning breeze.

By around 9:30 AM, hunger kicked in, and they stopped at Pahadi Zaika Dhaba, a clean and cozy place known for its fresh food. Breakfast included Aloo Paratha, curd, and sweet lassi – a perfect start to a long day.

They reached the camp site in Bhimtal at 4:00 PM, where they were warmly welcomed by Ganesh, the friendly caretaker of the campsite. He greeted them with a smile and a refreshing glass of Buransh juice – a local specialty made from rhododendron flowers.

Camp Activities and Local Delights

After settling into their tents, the group enjoyed some light activities:

  • Bird Watching
  • Village Walk
  • Sunset Photography with a stunning view over the Bhimtal valley

As the sun dipped behind the hills, the group gathered around a bonfire. Ganesh served a delightful dinner of Kumaoni Raita, Bhatt ki Churkani, Aloo ke Gutke, Jhangora ki Kheer, and Mandua Roti – traditional Uttarakhand dishes full of flavor and warmth.

Day 2: Spiritual Visit to Neem Karoli Baba Ashram

After witnessing a breathtaking sunrise and sipping on hot tea, the group set off to the Neem Karoli Baba Ashram, just 14 km away. The serene energy of the ashram, combined with the chants and peaceful ambiance, left a deep impression on everyone.

Day 3: Adventure and Leisure

The third day was reserved for fun and local exploration. The group visited the Bhalugarh Waterfall, tucked away in the forest, and later spent time at the scenic Bhimtal Lake, where they enjoyed boating and clicking countless photos.

In the afternoon, some of them went paragliding, soaring above the lakes and hills, while others explored the local market.

Day 4: Return to Delhi

After an early breakfast, the group packed their bags and thanked Ganesh for his wonderful hospitality. By 6:30 AM, they began their return journey to Delhi, carrying home unforgettable memories of calm hills, spiritual peace, delicious food, and thrilling adventures.
